It’s a Barbie World and we’re just living in it! Barbie has always been a fashion icon and staple of the toy industry, but this toy is truly taking over the world. The new Barbie movie has everyone obsessed with all things Barbiecore and Margot Robbie is proving that Barbiecore fashion comes in many forms! From pink carpets to press releases, Margot has been looking more and more like her character every day.

If it wasn’t obvious enough, Margot Robbie officially gave Barbie her style creds while attending the Barbie world premiere in Los Angeles, California. “We're finding Barbie references from decades past and just doing it really for the big Barbie fans out there, people who are actually collecting those Barbies. We're hoping to get them excited,” she explained. “We're pairing Barbie references with great designers.”

She definitely got that right! Some of the fashion industry’s hottest designers stepped forward to help bring Barbie to life on the red carpet. One fabulous example is Versace, who also dressed one of the world’s biggest pop stars, Taylor Swift, on The Eras Tour! Every designer who dressed Margot during her press tour absolutely nailed their Barbie inspired look. Just see for yourself with these side-by-side comparisons of Margot Robbie and Barbie!

Let’s bring things back to where it all began! One of Barbie’s most famous looks was worn by the first Barbie ever launched by Mattel in 1959. The black and white Hervé Léger mini dress worn by Margot Robbie at Bondi Beach in Sydney is a clear nod to this vintage look. Even Margot’s perfectly polished ponytail is the perfect embodiment of the very first Barbie!

Margot Robbie and Barbie have one major thing in common: they both love the spotlight! This made Barbie’s Solo in the Spotlight dress from 1960 the perfect piece of fashion inspiration for the Barbie premiere in Los Angeles. Margot’s black custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture gown is almost an exact replica of this gorgeous mermaid silhouette.

Barbie is known for being a fashionista and that means having perfect style anywhere, everywhere, and at any time. The 1985 Day to Night Barbie is an iconic example of how Barbie can transform herself into anything! Margot first appeared at the Seoul premiere in a hot pink blazer, white hat, and rhinestone phone to highlight the “daytime” look.

Then, just like Barbie, she transformed into “night time” Barbie by wearing a part-Versace pink dress. This fun, flirty look showcases just how versatile Barbie’s style truly is!

Barbie’s style truly stands the test of time and the Totally Hair 25th Anniversary Barbie doll is the perfect example of this! This Barbie features iconic aspects of 90s style, like vibrant colors and voluminous, eye-catching hair. This only thing Margot Robbie is missing from this chic look are Barbie’s blunt bangs!

While it’s so fun to watch Margot bring vintage vibes to the pink carpet, her take on the Pink and Fabulous Barbie from 2015 is pink perfection! Her hot pink and white polka dot dress features a high neckline and center cutout, making it a fun and flirty summer look. Just like Barbie, this outfit wouldn’t be complete without a yellow purse and bracelet set.

Margot’s ability to look like Barbie might seem like magic, but this really became true when she dressed just like the Earring Magic Barbie from 1993 at the Mexico City premiere! While she didn’t copy Barbie’s 80’s side-pony, her long sleeve, hot pink dress, silver star belt, and eye-catching earrings were enough to signal which Barbie she was channeling.

Can you get more Barbie than hot pink sequins? Sparkling Pink Barbie is the epitome of Barbie style, so this is one that Margot Robbie couldn’t ignore! This three piece hot pink Moschino suit with a matching purse was the perfect choice for a press conference in Seoul. The best part? She paired this look with delicate Tiffany jewelry!

Margot Robbie as…Margot Robbie Barbie? You read that right! Meet Mattel's newest Barbie inspired by Margot Robbie’s performance as Barbie in the Barbie movie. This is a total “Life Size” moment and was a truly iconic way to bring her character to life.
