SAN FRANCISCO, June 13, 2023 – Queenly, the leading marketplace and search engine for the formalwear industry, announced today that the company has experienced 35x customer growth and 3x yearly growth in sales since 2020. Queenly is continuing its pace in 2023 with an international launch in Canada, an official partnership with Netflix and Fever, and an inventory expansion into bridalwear.

In March 2023, Queenly expanded beyond its U.S. footprint and launched its formalwear marketplace in Canada, making it the company’s first international expansion. The Canada expansion marks a significant step for Queenly and brings its inventory of 200,000 dresses to Canada’s $16.8 million fashion eCommerce market. As part of this expansion, Queenly is forging an official partnership with Miss Universe Canada, the most prominent pageant organization in the country, to put Queenly in the hands of Canadian pageant queens while making their closets available to Queenly users.

Queenly also partnered with Netflix and Fever for the “Queen’s Ball: A Bridgerton Experience,” a formal event based on the hit Netflix series “Bridgerton,” to provide guests access to regency-style dresses that are budget-friendly and sustainable. Regency-style dresses are often available in limited quantities and only worn once. With this partnership, Queenly is promoting circularity and breaking down barriers to access for the experience’s future attendees. The event is currently live in New York City and has hosted tens of thousands of guests to date in ten major cities across the U.S. and Canada. Queenly launched a category-specific page for the Bridgerton event, and all guests will receive a special 15% discount to shop regency dresses on Queenly as well as have the ability to resell their dresses after the event using a unique re-list feature.

As modern-day brides are more willing to sell their wedding dresses and fuel the bridal resale market, Queenly has successfully expanded into the bridalwear market. The move came out of a natural progression of where the bridal industry is going. Brides are becoming more minimalist and opting to spend more of their savings on establishing their lives as newlyweds. Around 27% of those getting married in 2023 said they are willing to splurge on attire, compared with 47% of those who got hitched in 2022, according to planning site Zola’s annual survey of roughly 4,000 engaged couples. Queenly’s accessible and affordable inventory of wedding gowns allows every bride to find their dream dress at an ideal price point that’s also a sustainable alternative.

“Despite the formalwear industry facing headwinds since 2020, Queenly’s rapid growth shows the need for democratization in the formalwear industry and how underserved formalwear is in secondhand fashion,” said Trisha Bantigue, CEO and co-founder of Queenly. “Our recent launch in Canada, bridal inventory expansion, and the partnership with Netflix and Fever follow our acquisition of quinceañera marketplace Mi Padrino and previous successful partnerships with Miss USA and Miss Universe. We are proud of Queenly’s continued success and our ability to establish ourselves as the only marketplace dedicated to formalwear.”

In recent months, Queenly improved its user experience with numerous technological enhancements, including a Gen-Z-inspired video-based shopping feed that allows users to view detailed videos of listings. Since launching this capability, Queenly saw listings that included videos sold 6x faster. The success of Queenly’s video-based shopping feed reflects younger customers’, especially Gen-Z, preference for video/enhanced UGC.

Heading into the second half of the year, Queenly users can expect a reverse-image search feature that allows them to capture images of various dresses and formalwear garments in real time and find similar listings on the platform. Users will also have the ability to upload images saved on their devices for a quicker and easier shopping experience.

Founded in 2019, Queenly has quickly acquired over 700K downloads across Apple’s App Store and Google Play and signed on with over 40 dress partners, including Mac Duggal, Terani, Portia & Scarlett, and more. Queenly’s growth reflects its purposeful strides to provide consumers access to affordable, sustainable formalwear. To learn more, please visit queenly.com.
